The SAU Tech Career Academy is an area secondary career center located on the SAU Tech campus with a satellite location in Magnolia. The academy provides area high school juniors and seniors with the unique opportunity to earn college credit through skills-based technical courses while still in high school. The academy serves area high schools in Ouachita, Columbia, Calhoun and Dallas counties with locations at SAU Tech and Magnolia. Services are provided at no cost to the students. Books, tuition and fees are provided through the academy and are funded through the Arkansas Department of Career Education.
The career academy has three primary goals which define its purpose:
Programs Offered: Automotive Service Technology Computer Engineering Cosmetology Technology Health Sciences Technology Radio/Television Broadcast & Production Welding Technology
Services Offered: The Kuder Career Planning System an online career planning system provided for free to anyone wanting to asses their career interests and skills. It is offered through the State of Arkansas online at www.arkansasworks.kuder.com. SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves high school and college students who are enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations. The organization builds student character and self-confidence through educational experiences in leadership, teamwork and citizenship. Students involved with SkillsUSA have opportunities to display their technical skills during annual competitions.
